There
are a number of other organisations
and initiatives in the UK which are advancing the use of standards and
technologies in the defence sector. The Industry Avionics Working Group (IAWG)
consortium (GE Aviation, BAE SYSTEMS, General Dynamics UK Ltd, SELEX
S&AS and Westland Helicopters) for example have recently
undertaken an extensive study on the use of modular and incremental
certification techniques on Advanced Avionics Architectures (AAA).
QinetiQ, the MoD and others have
worked to mitigate some of the obsolescence issues associated with
military equipment under the Technology Insertion Major Programme Area
(TIMPA). Praxis High
Integrity Systems and the MoD developed the SafSec standard which
details a set of requirements which may be used to gain Safety and
Security Certification for a complicated system. Many of these
organisations publish technical reports and guidance for consumption in
the public domain and can represent a rich resource for those seeking
information on current best practice and emerging military technology
trends. Both QinetiQ and
Praxis host a number of project outputs on their website: SafSec >>> TIMPA
>>> To
aid dissemination the ASSC hosts the outputs for other related projects
on this website. For information including technical papers
