Seminar Overview

The ASSC has recently completed a study investigating the factors which influence the ability of IPTs to effectively manage their security responsibilities.  The study identified a number of barriers which together inhibit the performance of IPTs with respect to security. These include:

  • the perceived relevance and complexity of current MoD security policy and guidance, the limited use of structured or systematic risk management processes,
  • a shortage of staff and subject matter expertise.

To overcome these barriers, further ASSC work strands are seeking to develop guidance on the acquisition of secure deployable systems. In partnership with the DSSO, DDefSy and CESG the ASSC is also seeking to develop a Security Management System framework specifically tailored to the organisation and aims of IPTs.

Event Objectives

The aims of the event were to:

  • promote an understanding of current security and IA policy,
  • highlight the challenges which face procurers of secure defence equipment,
  • provide practical, experience based, solutions to these challenges,
  • provide an insight into the focus of future security and IA policy.

A range of topics were delivered by speakers from MoD and industry. The slides from the presentations can be found on the Programme page.
