Military Information Assurance & Security Symposium (MIASec10)
Date and Venue to be Confirmed

Due to recent organisational changes at the MoD and lack of suitable car parking available at Abbey Wood we have taken a decision to postpone MIASec10 whilst we establish a new MoD sponsor and consider alternative venues.

Seminar Overview

The inaugural Military Information Assurance & Security Symposium (MIASec09) was held at MoD Abbey Wood in 2009. The event aimed to promote an understanding and insight into current and future security and Information Assurance policy and to highlight the challenges, and practical solutions, encountered during the procurement of secure defence equipment.

A range of topics were delivered by speakers from MoD and industry. The slides from the presentations can be found on the MIASec09 Programme page.

Event Objectives

Following on from issues raised at MIASec09, the ASSC has now entered into a research programme on behalf of the Software Systems Engineering Initiative (SSEI), the aims of which are to enable better management of the information assurance and security matters encountered by PTs during a procurement programme by addressing a number of key areas, which will be addressed during MIASec10:

  • identifying a creditable management system,
  • further development of baseline guidance for the Accreditation process and
  • investigation of a graphical format, such as GSN, for a generic IA Case Report.

The event is aimed at PT managers, assurors, accreditators and suppliers of secure defence equipment.

Details on presentation topics will be available later in the year after the new date and venue have been confirmed.
